Join us on Friday, Mat 8 at 6:30pm to welcome poet Akhim Yuseff Cabéy to Prologue Bookshop in celebration of his debut collection, Get Funky, Get Swoll.
Get Funky, Get Swoll explores, demonstrates, and indicts the multifaceted and multifarious ways white supremacy, white culture, and, in very specific instances white people, have had a profound and tragic impact on the human experience of those people known as Black.
AKHIM YUSEFF CABÉY was born in the Bronx, NY. A Pushcart Prize-winning poet and essayist, he is also the winner of the 2024 Palette Poetry Rising Poet Prize and a 2025 Djanikian Scholar. He is both a six-time recipient of the Ohio Arts Council Individual Excellence Award and a Greater Columbus Arts Council Artist Project Award. His writing has appeared in Colorado Review, RHINO, The Adroit Journal, The Florida Review, Indiana Review, Shenandoah, TriQuarterly, Callaloo, and elsewhere. He teaches and lives in Columbus, Ohio.
